California is its own universe from the regular sunshine to the great range of flora to the world of Hollywood. Growing up in Golden State, I always thought the place was special. As I’ve gotten older I found myself searching for what California really is ... its a bit darker than my youthful impressions. In this colored pencil piece I’ve try to create a heavy emptiness within a Los Angeles backyard suggesting a tension between day and night and security and danger.
